"Beyond the realms of academics, to which we have confined ourselves hitherto, this internship has given us much more than it claims to. These 6 weeks have most certainly been the most enriching, the most stimulating and the most enriching weeks that I have had so far. No vacation can ever match up to this one. Along with the rural exposure, we also had a taste of working in an organization. Probably for the first time in my life I formally worked as part of an organization, something that will definitely stand me in good stead for the future years."
- India Fellow Pritha Lohia, Delhi (2007)

"The India Fellow Programme has really helped me to change my way of thinking towards the villagers. This programme has changed me as a person and now I’m a much more confident person and there was a feeling of being quite ‘professional’ during my fellowship."
- India Fellow Kaustubh Singh Kachhwaha, Delhi (2007)

"The fellowship has opened my eyes to the vast difference between urban and rural life; the women I interviewed were a great inspiration because they had managed to speak up and make a difference in a village where they did not have any exposure… There are many things you don’t know you can do till you just have to do them. For me these things were managing money, washing clothes, doing the dishes, saving water. Knowing I can do these little things has made me confident. The fellowship has made me realize that living in the city in no way makes us superior to a villager, that’s just our assumption."
- India Fellow Mihika Mirchandani, Mumbai (2007)

"The India Fellow program is the kind of program that humbles you and opens your eyes (in harsh ways sometimes) to the problems that people in rural India face. To say the six weeks in Sagroli taught me a lot would be a clichéd, and yet, gross understatement. It was extremely rewarding on many levels. I've learnt more than I could have ever hoped to learn in the same period by sitting in Mumbai, and in the end, that's what all of us are looking for."
- India Fellow Naishad Kati, Mumbai (2006)

"This is the kind of stuff dreams are made of... The India Fellow program was no stretch limousine ride to 5th Avenue, but a chance of a lifetime that would certainly alter a stereotyped urban youth's dream to what resonates with millions of people across this country, to make him understand what this nation is all about, and what really sets it apart from the rest of the world. During the six weeks of the program we learnt how to live in and tackle situations most alien to us, and be independent in the true sense of the word-that's for the self-development.What the program is about - self exploration, a journey of 'rethinking'."
- India Fellow Vandita Jain, Delhi (2006)

"I was awakened to the fact that so much needs to change in rural areas. The experience of being a part of this programme was a complete one. I had tested myself and I found things about myself that I didn't know before. I grew as an individual in the 6 weeks that I spent, and the experience really shaped my thinking and outlook towards life a great deal. The leap I took in the dark at the beginning brought a whole new light in my perception and attitude."
- India Fellow Esha Harkisandas, Mumbai (2006)

"It was more than worth it. I feel I have gained a lot from this. I have come to know of my hidden abilities, emotions, stamina, etc. which I never thought ever existed in me. It came more as a self-realization. This whole experience added a new dimension to my knowledge base. The 6 weeks training period was exciting and full of challenges. It's definitely the best thing that ever happened to me!"
- India Fellow Adya Gupta, Delhi (2005)
