What is volunteer work?
Voluntary work is working for minimum or no payment, for a not-for-profit organisation, such as a charity.

Where can I volunteer?
You can volunteer in orphanages, old-age homes, help-lines, schools, relief efforts, NGOs etc. The causes are endless, the opportunities are endless and the need is endless.

How much of my time will it take?
As much or as little as you like - as long as your commitment is agreed to with the organisation whom you volunteer with. It could be an hour a week or it could be a long-term, full-time commitment. You can volunteer in the day, at night, or on weekends. You can even be a virtual volunteer - doing research over the Internet or building a website.

What qualifications are required?
Not many, although some work may require particular skills. Voluntary organisations will offer training if necessary.
